Distance is measured by time here, too, but I prefer to measure it by footsteps.

Parul…. I totally agree with you… being the part of this on and off due to my husband’s travel but still consider it my home,,,,,,

3 seasons in one day… I can totally vouch for that. My blanket was always out on the bed, just in case. It sure is a melting pot of different cultures. I just hope the traffic wasn’t so bad.

  5. I love this city too. I moved here 21 years ago and it’s the longest I have stayed anywhere. Bangalore is a feeling, like that warm blanket on a cold night, the cup of tea in a moving train and a whisper of joy in the noise all around. So glad I live in this city.

So true, especially the 6th point. The traffic really gets on my nerves!

  10. I love the atmosphere of Bangalore, but the traffic gets to me! It’s been too long since I visited, considering I used to pop in every few months for some years.

  11. I love Bangalore. A city that feels like home now, where one can still afford homes instead of apartments and can have a tree in the backyard. The weather is fabulous but the traffic can make you loony.

I love Bangalore despite never having been there except a short trip during college days. But most of my best friends are there as are almost all my blogger pals. How can I not like the city?

I so agree! Bangalore is a feeling, not a place πŸ™‚ I come from Bombay, and that, let me tell you, is also a feeling! And after Bombay, if there is any other city in this country that I really, really love, then its Bangalore! And I just looooove Bella Kaapi! <3

  14. Rajendra says:

As I remember it, it also holds the distinction for the first pub and the first internet cafe, both around the Brigade Rd. area, many decades ago.

  15. I’ve been living in Bangalore for 2.5 years now and I must say I love the city! I loved all the facts you mentioned, especially about the weather and the distance!

  16. Ramya says:

I didn’t know some facts. Distance measured in time is funny. Ofcourse, i heard the problems of my Bangalore friends about traffic.

    • Parul Thakur says:

Ha ha! yes πŸ™‚ Rains are funny too. When people here say it’s raining, the next question is where? It’s so cloud based that it rains on one side of the street but not on the other. πŸ˜›

Definitely, Bangalore is truly multicultural and has a very different ecosystem for professionals unlikely to be found anywhere else in India!

  18. Vinitha says:

Everything you mentioned will resonate with anyone who lived in Bangalore. I have lived there for only 2 years but the city lives close to my heart. I have made a lot of friends in Bangalore from different part of India. And I enjoy whenever we visit the place. And don’t forget the eateries in Bangalore. πŸ˜‰ Nice post, Parul. Loved the click too. πŸ˜€

Parul, my daughter lived in Bangalore for 5 years while studying law at NLSIU and still considers it her home πŸ™‚ I feel the same for my birth city, Mumbai. Love how you have listed the qualities of your city, great post.
