I came to Bangalore 11 years ago and have been in love with this city since then. The people, Kannada, and the food along with the weather make it a place I love. It is a city that welcomed me with open arms and for the last 11+ years, I have never thought of moving anywhere else in India.
So here are 7 things about Bangalore that will amaze you:
- Bangalore One was the first 24-hour self-service water and electricity bill payment kiosk in India.
- A garden in every nook of the city. It’s the garden city of India.
- The start-up hub of India. We thrive on innovation.
- You get to experience 3 seasons here in a day – hot around noon, rains around 4 PM and cold nights.
- City where you can get Bella Kapi (Filter coffee with jaggery).
- Where distance is measured in the time taken to travel. My office is 15 mins from my home and not 3 kms away.
- A melting pot of many states and cultures – I have met folks from almost every state here. Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Manipur to Gujarat.
Bangalore to me is not just a city but a feeling.

Parul, my daughter lived in Bangalore for 5 years while studying law at NLSIU and still considers it her home 🙂 I feel the same for my birth city, Mumbai. Love how you have listed the qualities of your city, great post.

Everything you mentioned will resonate with anyone who lived in Bangalore. I have lived there for only 2 years but the city lives close to my heart. I have made a lot of friends in Bangalore from different part of India. And I enjoy whenever we visit the place. And don’t forget the eateries in Bangalore. 😉 Nice post, Parul. Loved the click too. 😀

Definitely, Bangalore is truly multicultural and has a very different ecosystem for professionals unlikely to be found anywhere else in India!

I didn’t know some facts. Distance measured in time is funny. Ofcourse, i heard the problems of my Bangalore friends about traffic.

Ha ha! yes 🙂 Rains are funny too. When people here say it’s raining, the next question is where? It’s so cloud based that it rains on one side of the street but not on the other. 😛

As I remember it, it also holds the distinction for the first pub and the first internet cafe, both around the Brigade Rd. area, many decades ago.

You are right! I remember that too from over a decade ago now. Thank you Sir!

I so agree! Bangalore is a feeling, not a place 🙂 I come from Bombay, and that, let me tell you, is also a feeling! And after Bombay, if there is any other city in this country that I really, really love, then its Bangalore! And I just looooove Bella Kaapi! ❤

I love Bangalore despite never having been there except a short trip during college days. But most of my best friends are there as are almost all my blogger pals. How can I not like the city?

I love Bangalore. A city that feels like home now, where one can still afford homes instead of apartments and can have a tree in the backyard. The weather is fabulous but the traffic can make you loony.

True that. Thanks Rachna!

I love the atmosphere of Bangalore, but the traffic gets to me! It’s been too long since I visited, considering I used to pop in every few months for some years.

I think Traffic si a problem everywhere and not just Bangalore. When I visited Hyderabad recently, it was also equally crazy. Not sure if it’s India or mismanagement.

So true, especially the 6th point. The traffic really gets on my nerves!

I love this city too. I moved here 21 years ago and it’s the longest I have stayed anywhere. Bangalore is a feeling, like that warm blanket on a cold night, the cup of tea in a moving train and a whisper of joy in the noise all around. So glad I live in this city.

3 seasons in one day… I can totally vouch for that. My blanket was always out on the bed, just in case. It sure is a melting pot of different cultures. I just hope the traffic wasn’t so bad.

I think traffic is bad everywhere in India. Our infrastructure is so poor.
