Gratitude List – June 2017

Can someone tell me, where did the thirty days of June go? The month came to Bangalore with a lovely weather and to me with some good family time. My parents visited us this month and though their stay was short, our home brimmed with love and care. I had busy days at work but I was also able to take time out to spend with Mum and Papa.

I am always grateful for all the time we get with friends and family. It’s never easy to manage work, chores and then prioritize things we take for granted. Having been able to sail through as I wanted, makes me happy about June. VT’s exams are now over and it was good that he could do his best.

Here are a few things from June that I am grateful about:

Family: Along with Mum and Papa, my Bua (Papa’s sister)and Phupha also came over. For two nights, our house and heart were full. We had many conversations, discussions and it was good to spend time together. Living in Bangalore, so far away from both of our families we truly cherish these days. I am grateful for a chance to host everyone at home.

Work: Sometimes there are things that I do at work which make me sleep well at night. Knowing that I helped someone find a solution to a problem or supported someone when they needed a suggestion or answered a question that was troubling them. I am grateful for a job that brings me my bread and peace to my soul.

Workouts and Food: This month was not as good as May in terms of work out but not as bad either. I was able to work out 20 days in June and that included yoga or jogging/walking. I feel healthy and fit. The days I don’t step out in the morning, I am lethargic and I miss activity. Bisebelle bhat made of millets or broken wheat is now a healthy and early dinner few times a week and it’s working well too. If you haven’t yet tried millets, you should.  And in your smoothie, don’t forget to add flax seeds. This routine is here to stay.

TV shows: We finished the latest season of Prison Break and watched a few good movies this month. Amidst the chaos and late nights, it was good to get some down time with these shows and movies. I am not a TV buff but shows like Prison Break fuel creativity. Ever thought that?

Blogging: Though I couldn’t complete Bar-A-Thon, blogging has given me more than what I had ever imagined. Yesterday at work, SP told me how she reads all the posts and likes what I write. I love these hallway conversations. Unexpected and leave me happy. Thank you, SP and all you readers for your love.

Life, in general, has been fair. I fretted over things or thought too much on some days but I was able to also kick out what doesn’t matter. I am already looking forward to July. Many more exciting things ahead and I can’t wait to share all that with you readers. Yes, there will be happiness, food, and travel.

What is that one thing you were grateful for in June?

  1. It seems that you had an eventful month filled with so many things and family visiting, watching Prison break and exercise. I couldn’t do my yoga practice fully this week since I am having a bad pain. I shall work out tomorrow morning. A lovely post.

  3. Great gratitude list, and it’s so awesome you got to spend time with your parents!

I’d have to say, with how many unusually warm days we had last month (and how ridiculously warm it was today 92F/33C), I’m extremely grateful for our air conditioners! 😀

  4. Great to see this post Parul. All fitness enthusiasts suffer from this issue. If you don’t work out, you feel guilty. Happy to see that you are striking a good balance in your life.

  6. I think it’s wonderful that you write out a gratitude list for each month. I have a blog post started about things I am grateful for/ make me happy– really must get it finished! Sounds like you had a lovely month with family; is there anything better than a home and heart full of joy? I think not! I, too, am grateful for blogging, and all the wonderful people– like you!– I’ve met because of it. 🙂

  11. Wow that was an energetic post, happy to hear about your parents! its a blessing to have them in our lives; I miss my parents as they are no longer on this earth, my dad left earlier than my mom, my mother was regular in visiting me and and used to stay with me.. she too passed away in 2003. I am grateful for both of them in my life and they have helped me in my journey towards growth. I like the expression of how your work has helped with bread and peace for the soul… I have similar sentiments for the work I do . Thanks for sharing your gratitude list.

  14. Millets and Flaxseeds are going to continue to be a part of diet too. Workout took a backseat this month as I was battling migraine on and off.

How’s the latest season of Prison Break? I loved the first two seasons, but the third one was just bleh. Have you watched House Of Cards yet? Try it.

  15. Not sure myself where the 30 days of June went.. Thats great family time you have had Parul.. On my side I spent loads of time with the kids , with husband not being around. I realised the simple joys of playing with them , and that they would be children only once. Might as well enjoy the moments right!!! But definetely a fulfilling month and glad I have these small pleasures of life around me.
