International Blog Delurking Week – 2018

International Blog Delurking Week - 2018
International Blog Delurking Week – 2018

If you have been around for an year or more, you know what this post is all about. Don’t you?

Yes, today you can’t move on without saying ‘hello’, ‘hola’, ‘I was here’, ‘you are awesome’, ‘I love this blog’, ‘you make me happy’ et cetera et cetera.

Am I not making sense?

Okay, let’s get this right.

No one knows for how long the tradition of ‘International Blog Delurking Week’ has been around. Mel tells me 11 years at a minimum. Here, this is the third time. Bloggers always wonder who are the people who are reading? Many who read, don’t say a word and those who comment write a few words in the box below are usually fellow bloggers. So a week in January every year is set aside to stop lurking.

Give me a chance to say ‘thank you’ for reading the many posts here. Let me express my gratitude to those who stop by from their mail box, my Facebook page and the Instagram page.

So like 2016 and 2017,  I am asking you to not just leave once you finish reading this post. Take it a step further and let me know that you were here. Use the comment box below and say anything that you like. I am good with ‘the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog’.

If you are someone who loves to go the extra mile, tell me one thing that you would like to see more on this blog.

When you stop by to comment, I will be able to match up how many people are actually reading this post. Once a year, that’s how I get to know who my real readers are.

Just a simple way to make me smile. You would like that, won’t you?

Last two times when I joined the International Delurking Week, Mel from the Strirrup Queens hosted it. This time I have her go ahead to kick off the week from January 12-18 and I would love for you bloggers to join. Please feel free to use the badge above if you join and I would appreciate if you link back. No hard and fast rules though. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and let’s play along.

  1. I have known about delurking week in the last 2 years and this time I am going to join you in this. I will put up a post for Monday. I really want to know the people (readers) behind the different flags.

  2. SO tempted to write the ‘quick brown fox. . .’ 😛

But I will be nice. I love your posts. I love the honesty in them, the kindness they exude, the willingness to be open to a different opinion from the one you have expressed.

For me, that makes it all worthwhile. I may not comment very very regularly these days but when I do comment, I try and make it worthwhile. That’s the case with every blog. A blogger loves comments no matter what they may say otherwise.

So happy that you are hosting this and I just may write and link up today. There, I shall break my vow of blogging only once a week thanks to you 😉

    1. Thank you Shailaja for your kind words. They mean a lot!
I know what you mean about comments. I prefer to not lurk and leave my thoughts when I read posts. I think it matters that someone took the time to read and share thoughts. Thank you for always doing that!
I’m so glad you joined. It’s so much fun to read comments that lurkers leave once a year 🙂

  3. I think you are amazing, Parul, and your blog is a pleasure to visit. Guilty of not always commenting because these days I mostly read on my phone from where it is a challenge to comment, but I will change that this year. 🙂 Happy hosting!
I would love to make you smile!
And oh yes, the quick brown fox does jump over the lazy dog!

  4. This concept is really good. We often wonder if people are at all reading or liking our posts. This would give us a fair idea.
And as far as your posts go…you are amazing. I usually always try to leave a comment whenever I read your post.

  5. I love reading your personal posts. travel tidbits and general musings. I have tried to join in on the thursday treelove sometimes though must confess to not being regular there. You write as you see it and there is much honesty and clarity of thought – both resonate with me on every level of my thinking pattern.
This is a splendid idea and thank you for sharing it with me – I shall link up today as well. Happy blogging 🙂

  6. Hi Parul

So I have been reading your blog from 2 months maybe ( never commented though)and have read so many of your old posts as well. I liked the post of Azamgarh so much as it reminded me of my hometown Kolkata. After a time I feel all home towns are similar in nature as its their warmth and memories that we have of them makes us feel so. your posts are vibrant happy and even on a dull day I feel lightened up reading them that there is so much in life to feel good about. Keep writing Parul its really good to read you.

  8. Well, Parul! I’m never going to be writing the yawn-inducing phrase, “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog’.

This post grabbed my attention & since I’ve got to your blog today only (I’ve just begun blogging. So, hey, apologies!)), I chose to read your posts before I could wave here. And I swear, I couldn’t help reading so many of your posts in succession. You write so honestly. That churns beauty even out of random stuffs, which seriously puts me in awe of you.

Wow! For this amazing concept & happy hosting! Good day!
