This sky and some reflections #3

It’s a Sunday evening and I just had a cup of ginger chai at my neighbor’s place who has also become a good friend over the last couple of years we have known each other.

The house is quiet and I am at my work desk. VT is out playing tennis and we both know the weekend will end in a few hours. So each is doing what they enjoy best. Me being home and finding joy in the quiet and he on the court.

The sky shot that you see is from where I live. It’s an urban jungle but now and then looking up gives me some lovely views of the sky and clouds. An year back when I was walking back towards my apartment, I looked up and noticed the cloud lines and the sky.

Days turn to weeks, weeks to months and months to years and every time I dig into my phone archives, I realize time is sprinting somewhere. Summer is now slipping away and evenings are cooler. Monsoons seem to have skipped their turn this year and I don’t think the Earth has got a fair share of the rains.

This weekend I practiced to knit and learning something new energises me. I tried many types of yarns on my knitting needles but I could not get what I was looking for. It was hard and frustrating but it also improved the way my stitches looked on the needles. This made me wonder about the time that I felt I was loosing was actually the time I was putting in to sharpen my skill. Isn’t it all about perspective or the classic example of glass half empty of half full?

Very much like the sky shot above. Seems like the skyscrapers are taking over us or maybe the sky will always bring surprises and joy if only one wants to look up.

Have a good September you all and tell me what do you see when you look up?

Every first Monday of a month, I will share with you a piece of sky that I see and some reflections. If that is something that strikes a chord with you, you are most welcome to join. There are no rules here. The next edition will be live on October 2, 2023.

  • If you are a reader, let me know what you think of the post and the reflections. Your comment will give me some food for thought.
  • If you are a blogger and would like to write – post a picture of your sky, write on your blog and leave a link here. Better if you can also link back to this post.

  1. There’s such a sense of peace in your post, Parul. I like that you and VT find your own peace – that’s the sign of a couple truly comfortable with each other. Touch wood to that.
The sky, from my home, is truncated on all sides by buildings and sometimes I wish we were higher up for a better view. However, like you said, on some days it’s just so beautifully blue I tell myself what I see of it is enough.

    1. Thank you Tulika! When we were picking our place, the only thing that I wanted was to be on a higher floor so I could get to see the sky whenever I want.
You are right that the blue is always a joy.

  2. It is a beautifully interesting photo. To me, it appears to be an opening to a different portal with that thick white lining in the middle. As with knitting or with learning and practicing any craft, the time spent initially on learning the skill is never a time wastage. What is most important is not to give up at this stage. I am sure you are persevering with knitting and you are going to become a pro at knitting too as you are with crochet.

  3. Great shot!! What a gorgeous patch of blue, Parul!
I love how that line of clouds has formed. Amazing how the these shapes form in the sky!! The seasons are all changing nowadays and witnessing the unpredictability of nature has become the rule rather than the exception, thanks to global climate change!! For me, the peace and quiet that comes from skywatching always serves as a great reminder that we must live in the present moment.
