#ThursdayTreeLove – 83

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.” ― Sylvia Plath

This is how pink Bangalore looks. Our streets look beautiful these days and the tree responsible is the Pink Poui tree. The scientific name is Tabebuia rosea and also goes by Pink Poui or Rosy Trumpet tree. When I was reading about this tree and its presence in Bangalore, I learnt that close too a decade ago, this tree was brought here and it survived. Every February and March since then, the tree blooms and turns the streets pink. It grows to its full height in about five years and starts blooming. It is from the Jacaranda family that flourishes in our city.

You will notice that none of my shots are clear or upclose. That is because all were taken on the go. If I get a chance to step out with my camera, I will get you more. Until then, stay pink!

Thursday Tree love is a photo feature on this blog hosted on 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The next edition will go live on March 26, 2020. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to this post.

If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.

  3. What fabulous shots Parul- I miss these vistas. This is one of my favorite trees from Bangalore and I think Delhi has quite a few of them too though I havent spotted them myself. I shall try and go out to see which one is flowering in my city even as I remember these gorgeous ones from Bangalore- thanks so much for sharing this with me.

    1. Thank you, Shalini! Blame it on my memory. I see and click these every year and then I forget that they will be back again. So year on year I stand amused by these gorgeous trees.
      Thank you!
