What I did this weekend

  1. Ah sounds like exactly what I would do before I was married and worked through the week, Parul. So refreshing, isn’t it?

I love the idea of doing nothing on weekends. I get tired of being asked if I have any “exciting plans” or if I’m “doing anything special.” To me, “nothing” is special.

  3. Normally I TRY to sleep in a bit on weekends and holidays. Except of course like today when I forget to turn off all my weekday alarms and end up starting my day at 5am… LOL I see a nap in my very near future!

  4. I totally wish I could have completely free weekends like this. In a couple of years hopefully.

  5. Shilpa says:

My weekends are always hectic.. it starts at 930 and non stop I end up doing work till 3. That is the time I get to sit. Weekdays are less stressful and I get time for my me time.

  6. trablogger says:

Maybe this weekend you can think about the need for waitining all the weekdays for that weekend nap!

  7. Uma says:

I’d love a do-nothing weekend routine but the mundane stuff like buying groceries, veggies or preparing food eats into my time and the weekend just disappears. I do not blog or read blogs over the weekend. And, I totally get that part about sleeping before lunch. I used to do that a lot before I got married. Loved your routine, Parul 🙂

Forgot to add, I don’t believe that’s a selfie. How did you manage to click at such an angle? Oh my! My selfies are so pathetic. Lol!

  8. Parul Thakur says:

Ha ha! Exactly what I think. Things will always get dirty and unorganised. Why worry?

  9. Shantala says:

Why do you think you did nothing? You rested, and indulged in self care, and also read. That in my book is a glorious way to spend a weekend.

  10. Doing nothing on weekend is relaxing. A nap after good breakfast and physically tiring cycling and yoga must be rejuvenating. People (generally housewives) complain about how the chores increase manifolds on Sat-Sun, especially too much of cooking. My take – itna saara kaam karke kahan jaana hai. My weekends are as hectic and as relaxed as I plan them to be. Man kiya to khoob kaam kar liya aur nahin kiya to kuch bhi nahin kiya.

hihi, Breakfast in bed! That’s a ritual on weekends when P cooks some sumptuous scrambled eggs, toasts, fruits and ginger tea 😛 I hate going for parties on weekends.

I will also do the same when I will come to ur place . At my place my work with my Help becomes 10 times more than usual days .

  14. Well, these days I don’t get much sleep on weekends but it’s definitely more than what I get on weekdays, so no complaints. I’m not much of an outdoorsy person. So, I stay at home and try to catch up on some reading, if possible. Basically, I try to not do anything on weekends 🙂

  15. Rachna says:

I’d say you’ve earned the rest on the weekend. Weekends for me are busy and lazy. I tend to cook quite a bit, catch up on movies, shows on laptop, reading etc. I stay mostly offline and hence don’t really blog or read blog posts. Spend time with the family mostly and also handle the chores too.

  16. I do enjoy weekends when I don’t have much but I do tend to do stuff on my weekends most of the time. I used to be an early riser but after lacking sleep during the week for the past year or so, I find I do sleep in till 7 or 8 on weekends. I also work some Saturdays so usually then, I’ll have a one-day weekend. If the weather is nice I’ll go outside and enjoy it but if not, I’ll binge watch Netflix. I also do my laundry, groceries, cooking in bulk on the weekend and cleaning the house too every alternate weekend. So sadly, a lot of time is spent on chores.

  17. >I don’t do anything over the weekend

    >If I am not travelling, I am home reading books or blogs and sleeping
    >laundry, sheets, ordering grocery
    >get up early and cycle to Yoga

Okay bro. Sounds like a lot. 😛
I don’t have a weekend ritual because my discipline is in shambles. 😐 This weekend however, I’m in Mysore attending a Toastmasters annual district conference, so that should be fun.

  18. Soumya says:

Somehow, my weekends are always more hectic than my weekdays.

I clean the house, fold the laundry and clean more. For a person with OCD like me, this does not count as a chore.

But yeah, these days I’m going running to Cubbon park every Sunday followed by a rigorous game of badminton. Trying to be fit, in little ways.

Lovely post Parul.Once upon a time, my post breakfast naps were a must. Now life has changed a lot .Weekends I need to relax. That’s it for me too!

  21. Mel says:

My routine is much less admirable. I play video games every Saturday morning. I get cranky when I travel and don’t get my morning of coffee and games.

  22. Diane says:

After a stress filled week of teaching high school, I look forward to my Saturday morning ritual of waking up early, brewing coffee then painting and working in my art journals. I think weekends are meant to be spent on what we want to do rather than what we should do. I find I get resentful when I have to do things I really dont want to. Happy napping!

  23. Esha says:

Sounds great that you have the weekend totally your way! That’s very very different from mine. I usually have endless chores, work and preparing for the week ahead with more chores that you could think of. Sundays are the busiest for me generally, and I usually have to choose between napping or reading. The only way I take time out for writing or exercising is by cutting down on my rest or relaxation. Very unenvious state, to be honest!

I am jealous of you and your nap, Parul. I don’t know when I had a peaceful sleep in the night recently, let alone nap! You are smart, okay, but very bad for showing off with that nap selfie. Babysit mine and let me nap next weekend and see how uneventful that goes! *rolling eyes*

  25. when you say “cycling to yoga” you already work out more than I do 🙂

  26. I find this one of the most honest posts I have read about weekends; normally peeps make such a hoo-haa over how many chores, whose turn and how much booze and partying and ufffff!!! I loved a peek into your relaxed weekend; sounds blissful and refreshing! 😉

  27. Arv says:

I usually have a hectic schedule on Sundays…relaxing on a sunday evening is more like a dream Parul. Envy you!
