“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.”
— JP Morgan
Welcome to the first Thursday Tree Love of 2023, you all! I am excited to begin this year with a little more writing and active time on this space and I hope that I stay true to this promise to myself.
Last month, I spent two weeks with my parents and helped them settle in a new city. Like most of you know, I grew up in Azamgarh and left home when I was 17. My parents were teachers and their jobs kept them in the city for close to 35 years or maybe more. A small city with not very good accessibility can be hard to have a quality of life that one needs. Add to it, family and extended family that’s miles away. So my parents moved to the capital region of India and are now in their second month of settling in a new city and house. It’s a big change and I am very proud of how they are adapting to this new life. Today’s quote is dedicated to them.
I clicked this tree when I was visiting them and while on a walk to explore the area. I loved the lone tree and it tells me that we may not always have folks around who we know but we ought to stand tall and survive.
Thursday Tree love is a photo feature hosted on this blog on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of a month. The next edition will go live on January 26, 2023. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog, tell me where did you spot the tree and link it back to this post.
If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.

That tree could feel overwhelmed up against that cluster of tall buildings, but it does stand tall, doesn’t it. Here’s my post: a different aspect of trees we don’t often think of: https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com/2023/01/dated-tree-stump-thursdaytreelove.html

Beautifully captured the lonely tree surrounding high rises. I will soon want to resume back to be part of TTL circle. I was quite away from writing. Thanks for sharing this and keeping this moving.

Beautiful tree, a little lonely… I well know the life in a small town without infrastructure and without a car, by getting older it´’s a f**ing life, sigh!
