“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.”
– Dolly Parton
While on the road one day in Bangalore, I crossed this bridge and realized that though the city has changed as it grew, in some ways it’s the same. The street vendors, the old trees, the colorful mini-trucks and the people. It’s the soul that’s the same though how it looks is now different.
Isn’t that true of us too?
We change with age and experiences but at the core, we are the same who we once were.
Thursday Tree love is a photo feature on this blog hosted on 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The next edition will be live on October 10, 2019. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to this post.

Such majestic trees are becoming a rare scene as the city grows, but yes, the core essence remains the same. I feel your observation is truer in us,humans’ case – even with all the evolutionary changes we undergo in our thoughts and external appearances, our core values never change much. Here is one reminder from me – don’t think too much while crossing the road or a bridge, pay attention to the traffic as well. 😉
Finally, I am joining this week for ThursdayTreeLove after a long break.

I love the sight of huge tree with spread out canopies that tower above everything. You are right about the cities changing with development, population, migration, etc. So many of these gorgeous sentinels are gone to appease the growth of cities. Soon trees will be something we will get to see only in the jungles.

How lovely to know such a large tree is surviving and thriving, providing continuity to all those who live and work around it, or even just drive past.
I haven’t done one of these for months, but I’m back! Here it is: https://aseparatelife.wordpress.com/2019/09/26/kowhai-trees-in-spring/

This picture makes me miss the old Bangalore. No matter what this city will always retain its essence and that is what makes it my favorite city in the world. Although less green now, the soul remains intact. Just like us humans. We might change a lot with time and situations, but we retain our true sense always. So well put, Parul.

I’m both different and the same as I was years ago. Cities (I’m a naive of New York City) are alive, and are always changing, but they, too, age. It’s an interesting process, watching the life of a city. My tree: https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com/2019/09/first-thursdaytreelove.html

Beautiful thought, Parul. I couldn’t agree more…the spirit of the city remains the same although I feel sad to see the green cover slowly disappearing and being replaced by a dust cover everywhere! The tree-lined roads are fast becoming history and yet, Bangalore remains home to me and millions who, like me, now live here long enough to become inseparable from it. So well put, Parul.

Trees help us in so many ways – like providing oxygen crucial for or physical survival, shade, fruit, and they help us stay in touch with our souls. Your words and photo show this. I hope to add a Tree Love post next time.
