Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?
– Mary Manin Morrissey
I love trees that are oblivious to most of us. Such trees are in places where we see them every day however, we don’t really see them. We walk past them, sometimes stand beneath them and we smile when they bloom. Like in life, we are finding things and not seeing what’s right there in front of us. I clicked this tree in my previous office this summer after seven years of walking past this tree at least twice a week.
My message to you is to notice things around you and within you. Take nothing for granted. Nothing.
Thursday Tree love is a photo feature on this blog hosted on 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The next edition will be live on October 25, 2018. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog and link it back to this post.
If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.
Before you go, don’t forget to check the lovely trees shared on #ThursdayTreeLove – 48:
- Angela shares a tree from Hyderabad
- Balaka shares a Champa tree from Shanti Niketan
- Shilpa shares White Silk Cotton tree from Bangalore
- Alana shares a peaceful grove from Pennsylvania
- Ramya shares the Indian Almond tree from Pune
- Kalpana shares a marvel from Yosemite National Park
- Ramya shares colorful trees from her Colorado road trip
- Megha shares snow-covered trees from Oregon
- Chandra shares Bamboo trees and a bamboo house from Alabama
- Archana brings us a Rain tree from Pune
- Nabi joins us with a tree and a lone bloom and inspires to give 100%
Are we oblivious to the tree or is the tree oblivious to us ? I notice most trees stand sentinel to what is going around them ….

I like that thought. Tree stand sentinel but we also sometimes miss out appreciating what they bring to our lives. Thank you Sunita.

Well said Parul! Recently i read an article about Plant Blindness which was mostly on these lines. I too have ignored trees that i have walked past for years before ‘knowing’ them. Here is my tree https://yenforblue.blogspot.com/2018/10/support-thursdaytreelove.html?m=1

Hi Parul two things strike me in this post:) never ever take any thing for granted – I agree and one of the ways we can help ourselves is to rise with gratitude and sleep with gratitude, the other is letting go… just this morning as I was riding to my work place… a few thoughts on relationships that were toxic came to my mind and I caught myself getting upset and in an instant I shifted by focus my present:) without giving much attention to these thoughts.. . encouraging myself to keep a check on my attitudes … as I alone am responsible for my own life. Thanks for inspiring.

I just needed to hear that, Angela. Thank you for saying that. Your words always tell me something very obvious but thought provoking.

I wonder if trees really are oblivious? I’ve read that they can communicate with other nearby trees through their root systems. I wonder if that is true. But maybe we aren’t that important to them? Here’s mine? http://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com/2018/10/true-colors-thursdaytreelove-blogboost.html

May be they wish they could talk to us and tell us things we never knew. I have heard that too, Alana that trees listen. Thanks for joining and sharing these thoughts.

Taking a cue from what you mentioned about noticing things around us let me ask, do we know what kind of tree grows around us? I’m sure most of us are disconnected from mother nature and hence we have no clue about it!

You are right, Arvind. I also don’t know the names of the many trees around me. I identify a few but not all. We need to be more connected with the world around us.

The absence of a tree and its shade would probably grab more attention than the presence of one. As far as I’m concerned, I take notice of nature and its different creations always. Nice message, Parul. 🙂

So well said, Parul. In fact, my last #TTL was about something very similar. I ask the same of those around me. “Take nothing for granted.” Love this.
